HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Earlham College men's tennis opened its week-long slate of spring break matches in Hilton Head with a 9-0 triumph over Carroll University (Wis.), Tuesday morning at the Chaplin Park Tennis Center.
AGAINST THE PIONEERS
The Quakers took all three doubles contests to open the match, with Earlham's toughest challenge coming at no. 1 doubles where Alexsandr Sergeev and Sarthak Sharma teamed up for an 8-6 win over the Carroll tandem of Joe Harrison and Ian Foster.
In singles play, Earlham won all six matches in straight sets. Sergeev again played in the closest match, where he eventually notched a 6-4, 6-4 win at no. 1 singles over Harrison.
Earlham slipped to 3-5 overall following the loss to DePauw. The Tigers improved to 3-5 with the win.
The Quakers have Wednesday off before returning to the court on Thursday, March 14, when they face Quincy University in a 5:30 p.m. match.
