RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College men's tennis team opens its home schedule against Daeman College (New York) on Tuesday evening.
The Match: Originally scheduled to be at 4 p.m., the match has been moved indoors to the Dayton Center Courts because of weather. First serve is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
The Teams: Earlham and Daemen. The Quakers are 3-2 this season after defeating Allegheny College and falling to Case Western Reserve University on March 4. The Wildcats are 3-11 overall and face Franklin College on Monday.
The Coaches: Shawn Hyden is in his first season as head men's tennis coach at Earlham. The Mount Union College alumnus spent the last two seasons as head men's and women's tennis coach at Arcardia University when he led the Knights to the Mid Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Tournament championship match. Stephen Beatty is in his fourth season as head men's and women's tennis coach at Daemen.
The Players: Junior Vitalii Stadnyk and freshman Fernando Bulnes Aramburu lead the Quakers with five and four singles victories respectively. Stadnyk, the two-time reigning Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Most Valuable Player, features a 4-1 record in dual matches at first singles. Bulnes Aramburu leads the squad in doubles victories with four. Mark Veitengruber has 10 victories, four in singles and six in doubles, to lead Daemen.
