RICHMOND, Ind. - The Earlham College men's soccer team took a hit from Otterbein College as the Quakers were shutout 3-0 on at Matlack Field on Saturday afternoon.
In the first half, Tiger Pham netted a penalty kick goal for the Cardinals 27 minutes into the game.
Leading 1-0 at halftime, Zach Barwick doubled the Otterbein lead with a goal at the 62:49. Erik Juarez Manning closed out the game with a goal, a second before the end of the period, which was assisted by Noah Coons.
The Quakers could not solve the Cardinal defense as Earlham managed just nine shots compared to 19 for Otterbein. Sophomore Peter Kashatus managed eight saves as the Quakers' goalie compared to Cardinal Collin Hoffmann who made one save in the first half. Mark Stamper, who came in for the second half, tallied three saves.
Earlham (4-4) will open Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play at Bluffton University on Oct. 1, 2016. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
