RICHMOND, Ind. – Earlham College senior Elijah Wilson-Thomas (Goldsboro, N.C./Massanutten) was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday, following his efforts that led the Quakers to a 2-0 mark last week.
Wilson-Thomas is the first Earlham men's basketball player to be recognized with HCAC Player of the Week honors.
Wilson-Thomas opened the week on Wednesday with a team-high 24 points on 6-of-9 (.667) shooting from the field in the Quakers' 76-63 home triumph over Bluffton University. He knocked down 10 of his 11 attempts at the free-throw line, connected on a pair of 3-point attempts, and logged a pair of rebounds and a steal versus the Beavers.
In Saturday's road contest at Anderson, Wilson-Thomas netted 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting with three treys, along with a 5-of-6 effort at the stripe. He also recorded five of Earlham's 10 steals on the day.
For the week, Wilson-Thomas averaged 23.0 points while going 13-of-22 (.590) from the field and 5-of-12 from beyond the arc, with 1.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals.
In addition, the two contests represented Wilson-Thomas' eighth and ninth 20-point performances of the season.
Earlham men's basketball will travel to Lexington, Ky., on Wednesday to face Transylvania University in a 7:30 p.m. tip-off, before returning home on Saturday, Feb. 3, to host Franklin College in an HCAC basketball doubleheader at the Druley Performance Gym. Tip-off for the men's game will be 2:00 p.m. followed by the women's game at 4:00 p.m.
