RICHMOND, Ind. - The Earlham College Men's basketball team lost to Franklin College by a score of 102-91.
After trading baskets early in the first half, Earlham took off on an 11-2 scoring run. At their peak, the Quakers commanded an 11-point lead with 7 minutes to go in the 1st but were unable to maintain their hold on the game. Elijah Wilson-Thomas, Darrell Hutchison Jr., and Jamel Barnes led the offensive effort for EC, each scoring 20 points or more on the afternoon. Elijah Wilson-Thomas shot 7-14 from the field and made each of his seven free-throws. He finished with a team leading 23 points. Jamel Barnes put up good numbers on both sides of the ball, scoring 20 points (6-10) while earning team highs in both rebounds (6) and assists (5). Barnes also boasted an impressive 60% (3-5) from beyond the arc.
Franklin caught fire in the second half, demonstrating impressive efficiency both inside (15-24) and beyond (5-11) the three-point line. Although Earlham managed to keep it close for most of the second half, the Grizzlies' devastating 22-11 run in the final 6 minutes put a damper on an otherwise thrilling game of basketball.
Earlham will continue their season with an exciting, home matchup against Defiance on Wednesday January 17 at 7:30 pm.
