RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's basketball team continues Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action with a road trip to Franklin College to face the Grizzlies on Saturday. Tip-off, from the Spurlock Center, is scheduled for 3 p.m.
The Teams: Earlham and Franklin. The Quakers are trying to top a two-game slide after falling to Bluffton University 88-87 in overtime on Wednesday evening. The Grizzlies have also dropped both conference games thus far, falling to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 86-73 on Wednesday.
The Coaches: Earlham is under the direction of third-year head coach Jason Polykoff. An alumnus of Haverford College, Polykoff came to Earlham from Penn, where he served as an assistant coach. He also won four state championships at Friends' Central High School in Wynnewood, Pa. Kerry Prather has been the head coach at Franklin since 1983.
The Players: Three Quakers, sophomore Darrell Hutchison (15.5 ppg), junior Elijah Wilson-Thomas (11.7 ppg), and freshman Blake Bonin (10. 4 ppg), average double figures in scoring. Hutchison has turned in back-to-back 21-point performances, career highs for the Indianapolis, Ind. native. In Earlham's overtime loss to Bluffton, Wilson-Thomas had just two points at halftime, but exploded for 28 points in the second half and overtime. Aaron Mann, who is second in the HCAC in scoring, leads the Grizzlies offensively averaging 20.2 points per contest while John Beineke is not far behind at 16.2 points per game. Both lead Franklin in rebounding as well, averaging over seven boards per game.

2015-16 Matchups: The two teams split last year's series with both teams winning on the road. Franklin beat Earlham 82-74 at Schuckman Court on Dec. 12, but the Quakers returned the favor edging the Grizzlies 76-72 at Franklin on Jan. 30.
Recent History: Earlham is 3-9 against Franklin since joining the HCAC prior to the 2010-11 season. The teams have split games the last three seasons.
