RICHMOND, Ind. – Olivia O'Connell's goal early in the first half was the lone score of the game as visiting Kenyon College posted a 1-0 win over Earlham College field hockey, in a North Coast Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday at Darrell Beane Stadium.

O'Connell scored just two minutes and 58 seconds into the contest, putting back a loose rebound from an initial shot that was stopped by Earlham goalie Meg Murphy.

The rest of the contest was mostly a battle between the 25-yard lines, with neither team able to generate many quality offensive opportunities. Kenyon narrowly outshot Earlham, 9-7, with the Quakers earning five penalty corners to the Ladies' three.

Murphy finished the game with five saves for the Quakers, while Kenyon goalie Suzy Deems charted four saves in the Ladies' cage.

Earlham has a week to prepare for its next contest on Saturday, Oct. 20, when the Quakers will face Oberlin College. Game time is slated for 12:00 p.m.
