RICHMOND, Indiana – The Earlham College field hockey team's 2017 season comes to a close on Saturday when the Quakers host DePauw University for an 11 a.m. senior day game at Darrell Beane Stadium
The Teams: Earlham and DePauw. The Quakers are 6-9 overall and 5-8 in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play after a 2-0 loss at Denison University on Wednesday. The Tigers are 10-7 overall and 8-45in conference play after a 3-0 loss at Wittenberg University on Thursday.
The Coaches: Emily Girasole is in her first season as head field hockey coach at Earlham. Girasole spent one season as an assistant field hockey coach at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis), and before that, she was an assistant field hockey coach at Central Michigan University for three seasons. Erika Burcher is in her third season leading the Tigers' field hockey program after spending one season as an assistant coach at Springfield College (Massachusetts).
The Players: Senior Megan Hut and junior Maite Turlings have both scored eight goals for the Quakers this season. Hut leads the squad with six assists while Turlings and sophomore Sydney Barnes have each dished out three assists. Freshman Sofia Salvatore and junior Isabella Grasso have scored four and three goals respectively. Reilly Bruce leads the Tigers offensive efforts with a team-high eight goals and seven assists. Paige Berliner has found the back of the net six times and dished out seven assists.
Recent History: Earlham has not beaten DePauw since the 2010 season.
First Time Around: DePauw claimed a 3-0 win over Earlham in Greencastle on Oct. 1.
