WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster scored a goal in each half as the Fighting Scots claimed a 2-0 victory over the Earlham College field hockey team in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action on Saturday.

Sammy Pavlecic opened the scoring in the 21st minute as she took a pass from Sydney Schuster and beat Earlham goalkeeper, sophomore Camile van der Vaart. The Scots, who outshot the Quakers 8-1 in the first half, took the 1-0 lead into halftime.

Wooster earned two penalty corners early in the second half and capitalized on the second one as Erika Womack found the back of the net off a pass from Lauren Abbott.

Trailing 2-0, Earlham outshot Wooster 8-2 over the final 30 minutes, but failed to crack the Scots defense as Katie Shideler made four saves in a shutout victory.

van der Vaart made six saves while allowing two goals in the loss. Freshman Sofia Salvatore took four of the Quakers' nine total shots including three of the four Earlham shots to be on net.

Earlham faces Oberlin College on the road tomorrow (Sunday) at 11 a.m.
