Kaitlyn Brunner Scores in Field Hockey Loss at DePauw

GREENCASTLE, Ind. – Two goals surrendered in the first five minutes doomed the Earlham College field hockey team in a 3-1 loss at DePauw University in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action on Wednesday evening.

Reilly Bruce and Kate Milner scored at the 2:36 mark and 4:14 mark respectively to put DePauw up 2-0. Milner found the back of the net again in the 19th minute off of a pass form Paige Berliner, the NCAC's leading scorer.

Trailing 3-0 at halftime, senior Kaitlyn Brunner got the Quakers on the scoreboard in the 47th minute using a pass from sophomore Maite Turlings. The goal was Brunner's fifth of the season.

Earlham would only be able to break the Tigers' defense once as Sarah Foye denied the other two shots on goal.

In total, DePauw took 22 shots compared to nine for the Quakers. Freshman goalkeeper Camille van der Vaart took the loss, making nine saves in the contest.

The Quakers will conclude their 2016 campaign against Wittenberg University at Darrell Beane Stadium on Saturday. The game, which features a senior day celebration, is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
