Field Hockey Travels to Denison and Kenyon This Weekend

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College field hockey team faces Denison University and Kenyon College on the road in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) action this weekend. The Quakers will face the Big Red on Saturday at 11 a.m. followed by the Ladies at noon on Sunday.

The Teams: Earlham, Denison, and Kenyon. The Quakers are 6-9 overall and 2-7 in NCAC competition after a 2-1 win over Oberlin College at Darrell Beane Stadium on Saturday. The Big Red are 11-3 overall and on a five-game winning streak. The Ladies are 11-2 and also on a five-game winning streak.

The Coaches: Heather Moore enters her fourth year as Earlham's head coach. She led the Quakers to their best finish since 2009 in 2015 as well as a come-from-behind, overtime win over the College of Wooster for the first time since 1993. Mike Caravana, the head men's lacrosse coach at Denison, will serve as the acting head coach for the Big Red this season while head coach PJ Soteriades is on maternity leave this fall. Jacque DeMarco enters her fifth season leading Kenyon's field hockey program.

The Players: Senior Megan Hut leads the Quakers with six goals, five assists, and 17 points. Fellow senior Kaitlyn Brunner as well as sophomores Maite Turlings and Isabella Grasso have each scored four goals. Charlotte Happel and Lucy Peasall have scored 13 and 10 goals for Denison respectively while Weezie Foster leads Kenyon with 10 goals and three assists.

First Time Around: Earlham lost to Denison 8-1 on Sept. 23 before defeating Kenyon 2-1 for the first time since 2003 a day later.
