Field Hockey Hosting Denison and Kenyon This Weekend

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College field hockey team hosts Denison University and Kenyon College in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) competition at Darrell Beane Stadium this weekend. The Quakers will face the Big Red on Friday at 5 p.m. followed by the Ladies at noon on Saturday.

The Teams: Earlham, Denison, and Kenyon. The Quakers are 4-3 on the season after falling to the College of Wooster 3-2 and defeating Oberlin College 4-3 in a shootout last weekend. The Big Red are 5-2 and have three consecutive wins while the Ladies are 5-2 and have also won three straight contests.

The Coaches: Heather Moore enters her fourth year as Earlham's head coach. She led the Quakers to their best finish since 2009 in 2015 as well as a come-from-behind, overtime win over the College of Wooster for the first time since 1993. Mike Caravana, the head men's lacrosse coach at Denison, will serve as the acting head coach for the Big Red this season while head coach PJ Soteriades is on maternity leave this fall. Jacque DeMarco enters her fifth season leading Kenyon's field hockey program.

The Players: Senior Megan Hut leads the Quakers with five goals and three assists this year. Sophomore Maite Turlings has three goals while senior Kaitlyn Brunner and sophomore Isabella Grasso have each netted two goals. Charlotte Happel has scored eight goals for Denison while Katelyn Hutchison has found the back of the net six times for Kenyon.

NCAC Standings: Kenyon, the two-time defending champions, are atop the NCAC standings with a 4-0 record. Denison sits in third place with a 2-1 record while Earlham is in a four-way tie for fourth place at 1-2.

Alma Mater Connection: Both Heather Moore (2008) and Jacque DeMarco (2007) graduated from Colgate University.
