RICHMOND, Ind. – Senior goalkeeper Kate Korobkina tallied seven saves, but the Kenyon Ladies struck for four goals to defeat the Earlham College field hockey team 4-0 at Darrell Beane Stadium on Sunday.
Kenyon, which was looking to rebound from its first North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) loss yesterday, scored three first half goals. Maddie Breschi, who came into the weekend second in the conference in total points, added her second goal of the game in the 61st minute.
The Ladies held a 15-9 shots advantage overall, but the Quakers fired eight shots in the second half compared to five for Kenyon. Earlham also held an 11-8 edge in penalty corners including 8-4 in the second half.
Junior Megan Hut and freshman Maite Turlings each took four shots in the game. All of Turlings' shots were on net while three of Hut's shots were on target. Kenyon goalkeeper Sarah Sperhoff was up to the task, however, making seven saves in the game.
Earlham returns to action on Wednesday as the Quakers host DePauw. The game is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m.
