DANVILLE, Ky. — The Earlham College field hockey team opened the season on Saturday with a 5-2 loss to Transylvania University.
The match, which was at Centre College, was tied 2-2 at the intermission before the Pioneers (1-0) scored three times in the second half.
After the Quakers fell behind 2-0, they rallied to tie the contest on two goals by Kaitlyn Brunner. The first goal was at 28:17 with the final tally coming at 30:30.
Transylvania led 25-14 in shots and 14-7 in penalty corners.
Earlham goalkeeper Brynna Foreman had 10 saves for the Quakers in her first contest.
Earlham (0-1) remains at Centre on Sunday to face the Colonels at 2:30 p.m.
