WILMINGTON, Ohio – Senior quarter Wesley Hundley accounted for 282 total yards, but Wilmington College outgained the Earlham College football team 583-286 en route to a 49-20 victory in the Quaker Bowl on Saturday afternoon.
After forcing Earlham to punt, Wilmington scored on its first possession, an eight-play, 73-yard drive capped by a 20-yard pass from Luke Creditt to PJ Meyer. That would be the only score of the first quarter, but Wilmington opened the second quarter with an eight-yard touchdown run from Gino Hinton.
Earlham responded with an eight-play, 66-yard drive finished by a four-yard scamper from Hundley. The extra point, however was blocked.
Leading 14-6, Wilmington scored on its next five drives, two to end the first half and three to begin the second half, to put the game out of reach.
Hundley finished 20-28 for 152 yards passing while also rushing 28 times for 130 yards. He was involved in 56 of 60 plays and gained all but four of Earlham's yards. Senior Marcaus Cooper caught seven passes for 76 yards and a touchdown.
Creditt completed 8-15 passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns, both to Meyer. Eric Flynn, Jr. and Creditt both rushed for over 100 yards.
Earlham (0-1) travels to Hiram College for a 3 p.m. contest next Saturday.
