Baseballs Drops Non-Conference Contest at Wabash

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Indiana – Wabash College scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning in an 11-5 victory over the Earlham College baseball team in a non-conference contest on Wednesday.

The Little Giants scored two runs in the first inning, and after an RBI-single from senior Matt Barger, Wabash broke the game open with five runs in the fourth inning.

Trailing 7-1, the Quakers got three runs in the sixth, but Wabash scored two runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to put the game away.

Due to an over 90-minute lightning delay, Earlham used seven pitchers in the game. The game's starter, junior Matt Mathies, took the loss allowing two earned runs in two innings pitched. Luke Dant earned the win for the Little Giants.

Barger, senior Brennan Laird, and freshman Alec Bryan all had two hits for the Quakers while Eric Chavez tallied three base knocks for Wabash.

Earlham (15-11) resumes Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play with a three-game series at Anderson University this weekend.
