Hemmings, Thompson among Players to Watch in HCAC

RICHMOND, Ind. Ramona Hemmings and Andrea Thompson were among Earlham’s Players to Watch as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball pre-season coaches poll was announced on Thursday.

Earlham had three players selected as HCAC Players to Watch with first-year Callie Kinsey joining Hemmings and Thompson. As a team, the Quakers were picked to finish 10th in their first year in the HCAC.

Hemmings was second on the team in kills last season for the Quakers with 151. She was third in blocks with 57. Thompson was fourth on the squad with 174 digs.

Bluffton University was a unanimous choice to win a second straight HCAC title. The College of Mount St. Joseph was picked to finish second with Hanover College in third.

The Quakers open the season at home against Franklin College on Sept. 1. The match is a non-conference affair that begins at 7 p.m. Earlham visits Franklin for the HCAC contest on Oct. 6.

Emily Sells
Women's Basketball
Emily Sells scored 11 points against Transylvania University in an 84-80 loss on Feb. 1.

She posted team-high numbers with seven rebounds, six assists and three steals in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.

Ryan Taylor led Earlham with 19 points against nationally-ranked Transylvania University as the Quakers fell 89-76 to the Pioneers, who are ranked 18th in the latest d3hoops.com poll .
