Santino and Wixom Among HCAC Runners to Watch

RICHMOND, Ind. The Earlham College women’s cross country team was picked to finish in seventh place as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason coach’s poll was announced on Monday.

Manchester College was selected as the favorite after winning the HCAC championship a year ago. Franklin College was second on the list.

Sophomore Hannah Santino, senior Caryn Wixom and first-year Maddie Fega were named on the HCAC Runners to Watch list.

Santino was selected as the Most Outstanding Runner and Most Outstanding First-Year in 2009. She led the Quakers in all of the events last fall including a ninth–place finish in the Earlham Invitational.

The Quakers open the season at the Franklin Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 4. The HCAC Championship at Transylvania University is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 30.

Ryan Taylor led Earlham with 19 points against nationally-ranked Transylvania University as the Quakers fell 89-76 to the Pioneers, who are ranked 18th in the latest d3hoops.com poll .

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference game was in Lexington on Feb.1.

Women's Basketball
Emily Sells scored 11 points against Transylvania University in an 84-80 loss on Feb. 1.

She posted team-high numbers with seven rebounds, six assists and three steals in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
