GRANVILLE, Ohio — Another day, another champion.
Elizabeth Ross gave the
Earlham College women’s track team its second title of the North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday with a victory in the high jump at
Denison University.
Ross, who entered the day as the No. 3 seed, recorded a height of 5’3¼” to win the event for the second year in a row. She was just one of three competitors to attempt the winning height.
The Quakers also had three relay teams score.
Cassie Gage,
Ramona Hemmings,
Molly Fallon and
Erin Witham finished seventh in the 800-meter relay with a time of 1:57.59.
In the Distance Medley,
Nora Swift, Fallon,
Eirinn Cooper and
Emily Doering had a time of 14:34.79 to finish eighth.
Witham, Cooper, Fallon and Swift combined to post a time of 4:36.95 to finish eighth in the 1,600-meter relay.
Ohio Wesleyan University won the meet with the Quakers finishing eighth.
Friday
Hemmings had a distance of 34’2¼” on her final attempt on Friday to claim the championship in the triple jump as she improved on her performance from last year when she finished third.
Meredith Naughton also bettered her sixth-place effort from 2009 as she cleared 8’11¾” in the pole vault to finish in fifth.
The outdoor season for the Quakers begins at the Hanover Invitational on Saturday, March 27. The meet starts at 11:30 a.m.
