GRANVILLE, Ohio — The
Earlham College men’s track team had a school record in a relay event on Saturday as the Quakers competed in the North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Championships at
Denison University.
The 1,600-meter relay squad of
Lenden Bowsman,
Ben Randall,
Jonathan Dyson and
Bo Braun had an Earlham record time of 3:51.06 to finish fourth in the race.
Two other relay squads scored.
L.V. Plummer, Braun, Bowsman and Randall were fourth in the 800-meter relay with a time of 1:34.39. The Distance Medley team of
Sean McGuire,
Tamas Csontos,
Robert Lugg and
Jacob Naegeli had time of 11:09.15 for an eighth-place finish.
Individually, Braun and
Jared Patton were sixth in their events. Braun ran a time of 51.36 seconds in the 400-meter dash. Patton cleared 5’11½” in the high jump.
Ohio Wesleyan University won the championship, while the Quakers were seventh.
Friday
Chad Wertman had a school record throw of 53’9¼” on his final opportunity as he won the shot put championship for the second straight season. Wertman was in second place before his last attempt, which was a NCAA provisional qualifying distance.
Also in the shot put,
Chris Shaw recorded a toss of 47’3½” to take fourth place. Braun advanced to the finals of the 400-meter dash with the fifth fastest time of 50.93 seconds.
Earlham’s next meet is the Hanover Invitational on Saturday, March 27. The event gets underway at 11:30 a.m.
