Earlham Receives National Honor

RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College women’s cross country team received national recognition on Friday from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Quakers earned a spot on the list of USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams for 2009. To qualify a team must have at least a 3.1 cumulative GPA, while having competed in a NCAA Regional meet.

Earlham led a group of eight North Coast Athletic Conference schools with a 3.54 team GPA.

Ryan Taylor led Earlham with 19 points against nationally-ranked Transylvania University as the Quakers fell 89-76 to the Pioneers, who are ranked 18th in the latest d3hoops.com poll .

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference game was in Lexington on Feb.1.

Emily Sells

Women's Basketball

Emily Sells scored 11 points against Transylvania University in an 84-80 loss on Feb. 1.

She posted team-high numbers with seven rebounds, six assists and three steals in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.

Did you know that the 2011 men's tennis team became the first squad in Earlham history to qualify for the NCAA Div. III Championships by winning the Heartland Collegiate Athletic ConferenceTournament title on May 1.
