Sutherlin Makes All-NCAC Honorable Mention List

RICHMOND, Ind.The North Coast Athletic Conference handed out its post-season honors for men’s basketball on Wednesday with one Earlham College player receiving recognition.

A. J. Sutherlin was on the All-NCAC Honorable Mention list for the 2009-10 season, after leading the Quakers in scoring at 16.8 and rebounding at 4.8 points per contest. He also averaged 1.6 assists a game.

Sutherlin had a career performance for the Quakers with the first double-double of his career as he posted career-high totals of 32 points and 15 rebounds in an 87-79 win over Rhodes College. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the Rhodes Classic.

This season, Sutherlin topped the Quakers in scoring 14 times. He had eight games of over 20 points and two over 30.

Earlham finished the season at 3-22 overall and 1-15 in the conference.

Women's Basketball
Emily Sells scored 11 points against Transylvania University in an 84-80 loss on Feb. 1.

She posted team-high numbers with seven rebounds, six assists and three steals in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.

Ryan Taylor led Earlham with 19 points against nationally-ranked Transylvania University as the Quakers fell 89-76 to the Pioneers, who are ranked 18th in the latest d3hoops.com poll .

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference game was in Lexington on Feb.1.
