FT. PIERCE, Fla. — The
Earlham College baseball team fell 13-6 on Tuesday to
Delaware Valley College at the Lawnwood Baseball Complex.
The Aggies got off to a 6-0 advantage after two innings before the Quakers were able to get on the scoreboard.
Chris Baumann hit a home run to start the third inning for the Quakers. Later in the frame, Earlham was able to cut the deficit in half when
Ross Yoho reached base on an error by
Delaware Valley that allowed two runs to score.
Unfortunately for the Quakers, the Aggies (3-1) added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 9-3 lead.
Earlham did respond with three runs to close the cap in the seventh.
Jake Carr knocked in a pair of runs with a single, while
Andrew Morrical ended the rally with a RBI double.
Delaware Valley put the game away with two more runs in the seventh and three in the eighth.
Baumann led the Quakers with four hits. Carr had three hits with Morrical and
Chris Tillery contributing two hits each.
Shawn Kinnett (0-2), who started for Earlham and worked four innings, took the loss.
Earlham (1-5) finishes its
Florida trip on Wednesday with a single contest against
Bethany College beginning at 12:30 p.m.
