Quakers Compete in NCAC Relays

GRANVILLE, OhioThe Earlham College women’s track team started the indoor season on Saturday as the Quakers competed in the North Coast Athletic Conference Relays at Denison University.

Ramona Hemmings, Elizabeth Ross and Meredith Naughton had the top performances for the Quakers. Placement in this meet is determined by the combined scores of two teammates.

Hemmings had the top effort of the meet with a distance of 33’6” in the triple jump. She added the fifth best leap in another event, going 14’6½” in the long jump.

Ross cleared 5’1” in the high jump for the second best height in the meet. In the pole vault, Naughton went 8’11¾” to finish with the second highest attempt on the day.

The Quakers also had the Sprint Medley Relay team of Emily Bohall, Cassie Gage, Erin Witham and Eirinn Cooper take seventh place with a time of 4:45.89.

Ohio Wesleyan University won the event, while the Quakers finished eighth.

Earlham is at the Anderson University Invitational next Saturday. The event gets underway at 3 p.m.

Ryan Taylor led Earlham with 19 points against nationally-ranked Transylvania University as the Quakers fell 89-76 to the Pioneers, who are ranked 18th in the latest d3hoops.com poll .

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference game was in Lexington on Feb.1.

Women's Basketball
Emily Sells scored 11 points against Transylvania University in an 84-80 loss on Feb. 1.

She posted team-high numbers with seven rebounds, six assists and three steals in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
