Late Goal Helps Quakers Tie Franklin

Bannet Asingura tied Wednesday's contest with Franklin on a penalty kick.
FRANKLIN, Ind. Bannet Asingura scored on a penalty kick in the final minute of regulation on Wednesday as the Quakers were able to finish in a 2-2 double overtime tie with Franklin College.

Asingura scored at the 89:28 mark to send the match into the extra sessions. It was the fifth goal of the season for Asingura.

Nick Costello got the Quakers on the scoreboard first with a goal at 3:28 in the opening period. Costello now has four goals this fall.

Franklin (2-5-2) erased Earlham’s 1-0 halftime lead with goals at 71:47 and 76:54.

Earlham led 25-9 in shots, while holding a 6-5 edge in corner kicks. Both teams had three shots in the overtime periods. Goalkeeper Jonah Kreniske had one save for the Quakers.

The Quakers (4-2-2) start play in the North Coast Athletic Conference against Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday. The contest on Matlack Field gets underway at 2 p.m.

Women's Basketball
Emily Sells scored 11 points against Transylvania University in an 84-80 loss on Feb. 1.

She posted team-high numbers with seven rebounds, six assists and three steals in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
