Quakers Fall 4-1 at Denison
GRANVILLE, Ohio — Earlham College field hockey player Cassie Gage made history on Saturday, but it wasn’t enough as the Quakers fell 4-1 to Denison University in a North Coast Athletic Conference match.

Gage became Earlham’s all-time leading scorer with a goal at 8:09 as she gave the Quakers a 1-0 advantage. Nicole VanScyoc picked up her third assist of the season on the play.

With her 15th goal of the season, Gage has 90 points in her career as she passed Margaret Kerrick (1983-86) for the all-time Earlham record. Kerrick has 89 points.

Gage has 38 goals and 14 assists in her time with the Quakers. She is second in career goals behind Kerrick’s 42, while her 14 assists have her tied for third. Rebecca Aldred (2000-03) holds the all-time assist mark with 18.

After Gage gave the Quakers the lead, Denison (11-7, 7-5) tied the match by intermission. The Big Red scored three times in the second half to take control of the contest.

Denison led 25-7 in shots and 15-7 in penalty corners. Earlham goalkeeper Emma Treece had 12 saves.

Earlham (4-11, 1-11) finishes its season at Transylvania University on Monday. The non-conference affair begins at 6 p.m.

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference game was in Lexington on Feb.1.

Women's Basketball
Emily Sells scored 11 points against Transylvania University in an 84-80 loss on Feb. 1.

She posted team-high numbers with seven rebounds, six assists and three steals in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
