GAMBIER, Ohio — The Earlham College field hockey team dropped a 6-3 decision on Friday to
Kenyon College.
Kenyon broke open a 2-2 tie with scores at 38:32, 45:34, 51:19 and 65:04 in the second half of the North Coast Athletic Conference match to take a 6-2 lead before Earlham added a late goal in the contest.
The Ladies (5-9, 4-3) scored at 7:02 and 9:55 to grab a 2-0 advantage in the opening period before
Cassie Gage cut the deficit in half with an unassisted goal for the Quakers at 20:09.
Gage then tied the match with another unassisted score at 25:56 to make it 2-2 at intermission.
Chrissy Sollenberger scored the final goal of the contest for the Quakers at 69:18. Nicole VanScyoc was credited with an assist on the play.
Kenyon led 40-16 in shots, while holding a 13-6 edge in penalty corners. Earlham goalkeeper
Emma Treece had 14 saves.
With her two goals, Gage has 12 this season. She is second on Earlham’s all-time list with 83 points with 35 goals. Margaret Kerrick (1983-86) holds the school records in goals with 42 and points with 89.
The Quakers (4-5, 1-5) are back in action on Saturday at
Oberlin College. The NCAC match gets underway at noon.
