Thompson Named NCAC Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Ind. Earlham College senior Callie Thompson was honored by the North Coast Athletic Conference on Sunday as the Player of the Week for women’s soccer.

Thompson scored two goals and added an assist for the Quakers in Saturday’s 4-1 Homecoming win over Hiram College on Matlack Field. She now has four goals this season.

The first score came on a penalty kick and the second gave the Quakers a 3-0 lead against Hiram. In the second period, Thompson assisted on Cate Simmermaker score, which was the last of the contest.

The Quakers (10-6, 3-3), who are tied for fourth in the NCAC with Kenyon College and Ohio Wesleyan University, are on the road to end the regular season against the two squads this week.

Earlham visits Kenyon on Wednesday for a match at 4 p.m. The Quakers are at Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday for a contest at 7 p.m.

Ryan Taylor led Earlham with 19 points against nationally-ranked Transylvania University as the Quakers fell 89-76 to the Pioneers, who are ranked 18th in the latest d3hoops.com poll .

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference game was in Lexington on Feb.1.

Women's Basketball
Emily Sells scored 11 points against Transylvania University in an 84-80 loss on Feb. 1.

She posted team-high numbers with seven rebounds, six assists and three steals in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
