RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's and women's athletics programs reached another milestone on their continued upward trajectory with the announcement of final standings in the 2017-18 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Sports Trophy races.

Both the Earlham men's and women's teams, which just completed their eighth season in the HCAC, turned in their best finishes in program history.

In men's sports, Earlham placed fifth out of 10 teams in the HCAC with 42.3 points. The Quakers edged out sixth-place Transylvania (41.8 pts.) and seventh-place Anderson (41.5 pts.) and were 7.2 points behind fourth-place Manchester University (49.5 pts.). Rose-Hulman captured the men's All-Sports Trophy for the seventh consecutive year and the 10th time in conference history.

Earlham's women's teams finished seventh out of 10 teams in the HCAC, marking the first time the Quakers had finished other than last in the standings. The Quakers tallied 39.2 points, less than two points behind sixth-place Mount St. Joseph (40.7 pts.) and narrowly ahead of eighth-place Bluffton University (38.0 pts.). Rose-Hulman won the women's All-Sports Trophy for 2017-18, marking the first time the Engineers have won the award.

"I am proud of all our student-athletes have accomplished during the 2017-18 athletic year, and these results confirm what all of us connected with Earlham Athletics know to be true: we are on the right path toward our goal of giving Earlham's student-athletes a quality competitive experience athletically, as well as academically," said Peggy Carl, Earlham's interim director of athletics.

"I know our student-athletes and coaches will see these results for what they are, and will return to campus in the fall eager to work toward even greater success and HCAC championships," added Carl.
