Arguably the greatest tennis player in Earlham history, senior Vitalii Stadnyk earned the fourth First Team All-HCAC honor of his career and set a new Quaker record for career singles victories, earning Earlham’s nomination for the 2017-18 HCAC Male Athlete of the Year award.
Stadnyk finished the season with a 22-6 singles record, including an 18-4 mark at No. 1 singles, and charted a 14-4 record at No. 1 doubles. He received HCAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week honors on April 23 after a 4-0 week with singles and doubles victories over Defiance College and Franklin College, earning the accolade for the fifth time in his career.
Stadnyk’s 22 singles victories in 2017-18 gave him 73 for his career, setting a new Earlham College career record. His 64 wins in doubles competition ranks second among the program’s all-time leaders. Stadnyk was a three-time HCAC Men’s Tennis MVP award recipient (2015, 2016, 2017), a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete selection, and a four-time member of the HCAC Academic All-Conference teams.
